Review Process āGift giving is a complex social ritual in Japan. It maintains harmony and shows appreciation.
Omiyage (Souvenirs)
When you travel, you are expected to bring back "Omiyage" for your coworkers and family. These are usually beautifully packaged local food items. It's not just a nice gesture; it's a social obligation.

Ochugen and Oseibo
These are seasonal gift-giving periods (summer and winter) where you send gifts to people who have helped you (bosses, teachers, doctors).
Presentation
The wrapping is as important as the gift. Gifts are wrapped beautifully, often in Furoshiki (traditional cloth). Never open a gift immediately in front of the giver unless urged to do so; it's polite to wait until later.
