Passive form

私は犬に吠えられました

For u-verbs, change the 'u' sound to 'areru'. '吠える' (hoeru - to bark) becomes '吠えられる' (hoerareru).

The passive form is used when something is done to the subject. It often implies a nuisance or negative effect in Japanese ('suffering passive').
